NYFW Pt2

2/8/14

Here is part 2 of my NYFW Madness! I will be posting up a look soon as the weather gets better over here, BUT for now lets enjoy some fashion shall we?

ZIMMERMANN

Is anyone else happy to see that oversized coats are not dead yet? I am so excited for this trend, I refuse to give it up! Zimmermann spring collection had so much femininity going on that it was such a dramatic differences with this F/W collection. She stated that she got her inspiration from a photo she found of her parents in Sydney late 1950s, I can see that inspiration with the amount of knee length fluffy skirts, off the shoulders tops with high waisted pants (tartan print at that). There was a lot of structured silks, plush angora, and net overlays, but omg can we talk about that boxy crop moto jacket (on my wish list).

TESS GIBERSON

Talk about a dramatic force! I mean puffy turtleneck vest, long billowing shirt dress, leather bermudas, and of course she scored with her typical great hand-knits, especially that long shawl collar cardigan. Well, I can already tell you what I will be wearing next fall a tunic length button down over some leather pants.

JASON WU
Last year was all about corsets, power shoulders and aggressive femininity; Now it's all about rounded shoulders, full upper arms and some awesome ass tailoring. Now that Wu is the Creative Director of Hugo Boss you can see how that has change his view for his very own collection. Overcoats that hug the thighs above long embroidered chiffon skirts, what was once curvy is now long and lean. There was a lot of velvets in lilac and grape color under oversized mens coat, and my favorite part was the slipping little black camisole dresses underneath those jaw dropping parkas!

SALLY LAPOINTE

Now even though Lapointe style is a little goth and her clothes can read that way, this was a collection of first. One of her strength is this collection was the precise tailoring, there was also black tuxedo trousers in silk wool, elegant silk jumpsuits (how gorgeous is that jumpsuit btw). Besides all that awesomeness, the reason why this a collection of first is because Sally introduced Knits into her collection, Im talking chunky cashmere wool turtlenecks some plain and get this some with FOX FUR, how freaking awesome is that! This collection was powerful but still feminine.

REBECCA MINKOFF
(photos were taken from style.com)
Minkoff stated, and I quote "It's all about taking menswear inspired silhouettes and translating them into feminine colors and silhouettes". She did just that with this amazing collection, I am not a fan of pastel colors BUT thanks to Minkoff I can't wait to own my first pastel color item next fall! There was a lot of classic wool coats (my favorite), relaxed trousers, and she complemented many colors such as petal pink with oxblood and bright teal with navy. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but are fanny packs doing a comeback, I saw some walking down that runway.

Until next time folks, don't sleep on me now
xoxo
